Quilt Show: March 12-13 at Prince William County Fairgrounds

Cabin Branch and Stone House guilds host a Quilt Show each year in March. The show gives members of both guilds an opportunity to showcase the quilts they have created, and a chance to share the work, and the fun, of the past year with the community.  The show offers demonstrations, a children’s activity, and a vendor mall.  A silent auction, with items made and donated by guild members, is also part of the show.   Two quilts will raffled off and the winners are announced near the end of the show.

This year’s quilt show will be held March 12-13, 2011, at the Prince William County Fair Grounds, 10624 Dumfries Rd, Manassas, VA 20110. Hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will have over 200 quilts on exhibit, a merchant mall, silent Auction, raffle quilts, and quilt appraisals. Admission is adults $5, seniors $4, and under 12 get in free. Free parking is also available.

The Cabin Branch Quilters (CBQ) guild and Stone House Quilters guild, both located in Prince William County, Virginia, serve the community by making lap quilts for the ACTS Turning Point Shelter for abused women and children in Prince William County, SERVE in Manassas, and Annaburg Manor, larger quilts to the Prince William County Police Department for children in trauma, and Preemie Quilts for infants in intensive care at area hospitals. Both guilds are also dedicated to providing educational programs and workshops in various techniques relative to the needs of those interested in the art of quilt-making to educate the public and preserve quilting’s traditions, culture and history.   The guilds belong to the National Quilters Association and the American Quilters Society.

CBQ meets at the Lake Ridge Baptist Church in Woodbridge the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 pm and SHQ meets at the Java Rock in the Manassas Baptist Church at 8730 Sudley Road, Manassas every second Monday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
